The Meath Community Unit is a long stay residential home for elderly patients who have a high dependency on care. It caters for 60 residents and is situated on the site of the old Meath Hospital on Heytesbury St. Renovations were completed in November 2004 to the old nurses home/private wing and residents moved to this modern unit from the old main building.
Doctors from the Clinic have been giving medical care to residents here since 1999. The Unit is visited daily. Stroke and Alzheimer’s Disease account for the majority of disabilities of residents. The doctors work in a team with nursing administration and staff of the Unit. Multidisciplinary team meetings with the wide range of other health care professionals are a feature of the care given. Meeting with relatives of patients is another.
