Gonorrhoea is an STI which cause little or no symptoms in women. The symptoms can be vague and easily confused with a bladder or vaginal infection. The initial signs and symptoms include pain when urinating, increased vaginal discharge, and vaginal bleeding between periods. It is diagnosed by swab test from the cervix or urethra, and is treated with antibiotics.
Gonorrhoea is a common cause of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). This can lead to infertility, chronic pain and ectopic pregnancy.
